meNOpause walks
meNOpause walks are about how it feels getting older — the good bits, the odd bits, the things we worry about and the things we laugh about.
To do this I have designed a 21 km meNOpause walk across Edinburgh. It goes from the far SE to the far NW corner of the city, starting in Joppa and finishing in Balerno. It can be done in a day or depending how much you like to join in shorter stages of around 5–10 km (see below).
Alternatively, I am happy to come to people’s homes and we walk from there. This way I learn of new places around Edinburgh. I bring the picnic. You bring the thoughts.
As we walk, I will carry an old-fashioned tablecloth for our picnics on which I stitch traces of our conversations along the way. Everything shared stays confidential of course between us. This way we will create a collective artwork shaped by the experiences of women, men and people of any gender walking with me while talking about the often difficult topic of ageing.
The walks are carried out one-to-one across 2026. At a later stage I will also invite all my walking partners for a communal walk sharing our ideas and thoughts. Contact me if you like to join me for a walk and talk about all things ageing: claudia.f.zeiske@gmail.com.
The route stretches are: Joppa-Newhails - Craigmillar LIDL - Bridgend Farm and Cafe: 5.92 km I Bridgend – Morningside 4.76 km I Morningside – Juniper Green 4.33 km I Juniper Green – Balerno 6.2 km. You can pick a stretch, or do anything inbetween, or do the whole thing with me. Or something else all together!
