Combat Cooking at Talbot Rice Gallery

‍ So chuffed, that my Combat Cooking project will be part of The Rupture: No condition is permanent at Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh, opening on 24 October!

What began in 2022, when I started cooking Ukrainian dishes in response to Russia’s invasion, has grown into an ongoing project exploring food, culture and conflict across more than 20 countries.

Over the past three years, I have cooked, tasted and shared dishes from places affected by war and displacement. Now these recipes and reflections have become a beautifully illustrated book, created in collaboration with students from Edinburgh College of Art.

For me, cooking is a small act of solidarity, curiosity and hospitality — a way of reaching beyond the headlines and towards other people's everyday lives.

I am looking forward to sharing the book and this very timely exhibition alongside so many fantastic artists concerned with the state of our world with you!
